I write articles, essays and fiction, play music, and tinker with the Internet. Subjects of obsession include the media, class and arcade-style video golf.

I founded the online magazine Is Greater Than and I’m a contributing writer at the Santa Cruz Weekly. I’ve also written for the Silicon Valley Metro, the AV Club Chicago, DEMO magazine, Punk Planet, the Colorado Springs Independent, the North Bay Bohemian, Gapers Block, Proximity Magazine, and Make: A Chicago Literary Magazine. My fiction has been featured on Cellstories, and I perform works of creative nonfiction in wine bars around Chicago as a member of  the 2nd Story 2009-10 storytelling cycle.

I ran a sub-DIY record label named Warning Sign Records before working from 2006-2008 at real record label Bloodshot Records. Occasionally I get an odd impulse to build something online such as the independent news aggregator Indie Newsfeed, and I also do the occasional web design/consulting job.
